Your safety and comfort is our highest priority.

KG Kayaks equipment and safety procedures are subject to annual inspection as part of the Operators Licence issued by Environment Bay of Plenty.
When you take to the water, you will have undergone a full safety briefing with up to date information on weather, tides and wind conditions. Maps are provided if required, as well as a dry bag to store your equipment and allow you to safely carry a mobile phone or camera on the water.

On all Guided Tours we provide neoprene paddling shorts or stubbie wetsuits, depending on your needs and you should come equipped with a hat and sunscreen at all times of the year. At this latitude (37.5 south), the sun's rays are intense. As we say in NZ... slip, slop, slap and wrap!

For most kayak hires, shorts and a light thermal top is sufficient. Correctly fitting life jackets/buoyancy aids are provided and must be worn at all times on the water.

All our kayaks are fitted out with comfortable back rests/seats which make the paddling experience much more pleasurable! Even if you're only paddling for an hour, the extra support and padding gives you greater stability and confidence on the water.
