Freedom Kayak Hire
Freedom hires are available on Ohiwa Harbour only and over January we set up camp at Port Ohope, an ideal departure spot for exploring Ohakana and Uretara Islands in the Harbour. When we are not set up at Port Ohope, we’re just a phone call away.
A freedom hire begins with a comprehensive safety briefing and a plan for your trip. Hires include paddles, life-jackets and dry bags for your gear and all our kayaks are fitted with back rests/seats to ensure a comfortable time on the water. We’ll give you a map with a route plan and we certainly recommend a water bottle, hat and sunscreen. We recommend you wear board shorts and a quick dry top that will keep the sun off.
**Anyone booking a freedom hire must be ABLE TO SWIM at least 30 metres unaided without a buoyancy aid/life jacket.
**This is NOT an activity for non swimmers. If you are a non swimmer, talk to us about a guided tour.
There are both double and single kayaks available and there is no age restriction.
