Sunset or Moonlight Kayaking-Guided Kayak Tour

Sunset is such a special time to be out on the water. The change of light, the calm waters, quite simply the perfect way to end a day. Ohiwa Harbour is the best place in the Bay of Plenty to experience a sunset on the water and more often than not we have the place to ourselves.
When available, we also offer moonlight tours ! Mesmerising moonrises! Ancient Pohutukawa trees! Romance! Frequent bioluminescence. This trips offers much more than just a kayak journey.

From fish leaping into kayaks in the dark to stunning bioluminescent (phosphorescence) waves caused by your kayak, we’ve had some magical adventures under the Moonlight. No two trips are ever the same, but you’ll be left with a tale to tell and an adventure to share.

Often, we depart from our home on the edge of Ohiwa Harbour and the tour takes us passed Pataua and Hokianga Islands and the old Kutarere Wharf. No head torches required as once your eyes adjust and your senses are invigorated, you’ll navigate your kayak with ease.
